Cedar Park defeats Bastrop 63-14


Bastrop loses to Cedar Park 63-14 in the district opening game. Cedar Park took control early scoring 5 times after their opening drive, giving them a half time lead of 35-0. Quarterback Makenzie Sexton completed 26 of 29 passes for 286 yards and 4 touchdowns. In the first quarter, Sexton passed 2 yards to Carson Neel for a 7-0 lead. Josh Walker then scored on a 4-yard run for a 14-0 lead. In the second quarter Sexton passed 18 yards to Sammir Alzer for a touchdown and then to Carlos Woolery for another 18-yard touchdown and a 28-0 lead. Keegan Nichols scored on a 1-yard run to end the first half 35-0. In the third quarter Bastrop’s Jhe’Quay Chretin scored on a 39-yard run to bring the score to 35-7. Cedar Park scored twice more in the quarter on a 19-yard pass to Drew McDaniel from Sexton and a Josh Walker 1-yard run for a 49-7 score. In the fourth quarter Cedar Park’s Luke Pollicke scored on a 1-yard run and Clayton Langseth scored on a 1-yard fumble recovery and Cedar Park led 63-7. Bastrop’s Justin Terway scored on a 15-yard pass from Jadon Bills bringing the final score to 63-14. Lucas Bardshar scored all 9 PATs for Cedar Park, and Conner Brown scored both PATs for Bastrop. Cedar Park led in total yards 455-282, first downs 21-11, passing yards 286-65. Bastrop led in rushing yards 217-169. Jhe’ Quay Chretin led Bastrop in rushing yards with 88 followed by Dreyson Watters with 74 yards. Cedar Creek is Bastrop’s next game Friday night.
