Bastrop’s dominant defense helped defeat Travis 42-13 Thursday night at Burger Stadium. Bastrop scored on its 1st drive when Dalton Thomas scored on a 2-yd run. PAT was good and the Bears led 7-0. Travis would score without having an offensive play when Ryan Chavez picked up a fumble and ran 63 yards for a touchdown. PAT failed and the Bears led 7-6. Jovahn Jones ran 40 yards for a touchdown with the PAT good and the Bears led at the end of the 1st quarter 14-6.With 10:32 left in the 2nd quarter Jovahn Jones scored again on a 2-yd run with the PAT good giving Bastrop a 21-6 lead. With 4:40 left in the 2nd quarter Jared Dolle caught an 11-yd pass from Benjamin Flores and with the PAT good the Bears led 28-6 at halftime. After a weird 3 fumble play and a Bastrop penalty, Travis ended up on the Bears 12 yard line. Elias Millet-Troche would run for a Travis score on the next play and the Bears lead was now 28-13.With 33 seconds left in the 3rd period Jovahn Jones would score his 3rd TD on a 4-yard run and the Bears lead was 35-13. Bastrop scored the final touchdown with 5:49 left on a 9 yd-pass from Calvin Henricks to Jared Dolle and a 42-13 win. Bastrop led in total yds 474-109, rushing yds 332-25, first downs 23-10, and passing yds 142-84. Jovahn Jones was the leading rusher for the Bears with 150 yds., followed by Benjamin Flores with 83. Leading receiver was Jones with 51yards.
