The Bastrop Bears defeated the Lehman Lobos 47-14 in their opening game. The Bears started slowly in the 1st quarter which ended scoreless though they threatened twice. Bastrop then went into action in the 2nd quarter scoring 3 times, Dalton Thomas scored on a 14 yd pass from Calvin Henricks for a 6-0 lead. Benjamin Flores then scored on 1 yd run with a point after by Jose Sanchez. Dane Barron scored the 3rd TD on a 5yd pass from Henricks for a 20-0 halftime lead. Scoring in the 3rd period for the Bears was Jovahn Jones on a 65-yd run for a 27-0 lead. Orion Bera than quickly Intercepted a pass and ran 45-yds for another Bear score and the 3rd quarter ended with the Bears leading 34-0. In the 4th, Jacob Zamora scored on a 4-yd run putting the Lobos on the board trailing 34-7. Bear's Noe Salazar scored on a 3 yd run for a 40-7 lead. Jerimiah Brown ran for a 3-yd touchdown for Lehman and the Bears led 40-14.LadariusJohnson finished the scoring for the Bears with a 1-yd run and a 47-14 win. The Bears led in total yards 440-298, First downs 20-17,and pass yds 147-22. Jovahn Jones of Bastrop was the leading rusher with 141 yards.
