Elgin scored two touchdowns in less than 5 minutes to quickly take a commanding 14-0 lead on two touchdown passes from Collin Snell to his brother Kyle Snell. Elgin scored again in the 2nd Quarter on a 29 yard run by Jordan Smith who scored again on a 2yard run for the 2 pt. after. Elgin now led 22-0 when Bastrop started a 3 touchdown comeback. First, Cameron Barron ran for a 6-yd score. Alejandro Leyva kicked the point after. Barron then passed to his brother Dane for a 65 yard score, and finally Barron ran for a 9-yard score. Suddenly the half time score was 22-21 in favor of Elgin. In the 3rd quarter, Collin Snell passed to Kyle Snell for a 13-yard touchdown. Elgin would score again on a 2 yard run by Smith for a Wildcat lead of 35-21. Bastrop came back with a Barron to Reed 6 yard touchdown pass and the 3rd Quarter ended with an Elgin 35-28 lead. Elgin would prevail in the 4th quarter. Smith scored on a 17-yard run followed by a Soto 25-yard field goal and Elgin led 45-28. Barron would score again on a 2-yard run but the Bears would lose 45-34. Barron passed for 279 yards and the Bears led in 1st downs 22-19. Carrington Waites led the Bears rushing with 130 yards.
