Bastrop scored first and last, but Westlake dominated in-between and won 51-14. Bastrop scored after a short kickoff recovery led to a 45 yard drive for a touchdown. Ray Ross caught a 3-yard pass for the score. Lee McMillan kicked the extra point. Westlake then started their 51 point attack. The first quarter scores came on a 15 yard pass from Walker Kobelan to Brad Dornak; a 39 yard pass from Kobelan to Ryan Swope; and a 54 yard run by Swope. 1st quarter score was 21-7. The 2nd quarter scores came on a 5 yard run by Scope; a 26 yard pass from Kobelan to Mike Walker; and on a 29 yard run by Jeff Ballew. Westlake’s lead at the half was 42-7. Scoring started with a safety against Bastrop followed by a 15 yard pass from Tanner Price to Justin Tucker giving Westlake a 51-7 lead. Then came the outstanding play of the game. Bubba Johnson of Bastrop returned the kickoff 109 yards and the final score was 51-14. There was no scoring in the final period. Westlake led in first downs 17-15, rushing yards 273-194, and passing yards 100-52. Bubba Johnson led the Bears runners with 91 yards. Swope led Westlake runners with 131 yards.
