Bastrop defeats Del Valle 43-11 Before a large homecoming crowd the Bears defeated Del Valle 43-11. Ryan Lincoln scored on a 4 yard run following a Cardinal fumble. The point by Kevin Klaus was good. Maurice Jones scored on a 14 yard run, and the first quarter ended with a score of 14-0. Next, Del Valle scored on a 33 yard field goal. On the following kick off, Hector DeBoy raced 95 yards for a Bear touchdown. After a 5 yard touchdown run by Lincoln, the scoring in the first half ended with a 32 yard field goal by Klaus giving the Bears a 29-3 lead. Lincoln scored his 3rd touchdown in the third quarter on a 59 yard touchdown pass from QB Jordan Monroe. In the fourth quarter, the Bears scored on a 69 yard drive, with LeBoy scoring on a 12 yard run. With seconds left in the game, Del Valle closed the scoring on an 8 yard run and a 2 point conversion. The final score was 43-11 in favor of the Bears. The Bears led in first downs 16-11, in yards rushing 217-185, and passing yards 91-18. Next week the Bears meet Crockett in a Thursday night game at Burger Stadium in Austin in their first 16-5A game.
