The Bastrop Bears shutout Lockhart 35-0

The Bastrop Bears defeated the Lockhart Lions 35-0 before a Homecoming crowd at Erhard Field. The Bears started strongly, building a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. The first score came on a 72 yard drive, which included a 49 yard run by Rashon Ward and ending in a 10 yard touchdown pass to Dustin Haywood from Jacob Johnson. Rashon Ward scored the second touchdown on a 13 yard run. He was the leading rusher with 125 yards on 15 carries. He played until early in the 3rd quarter. The halftime score was 28-0 in favor of the Bears. The other scores in the first half came on an 11 yard pass from Johnson to Dominque Moore and a 40 yard punt return by Preston Simons. The final score came in the third quarter on a 6 yard run by Ward. Kevin Klaus kicked all 5 extra points. The Bears had 17 first downs to 7 for the Lions. The Bears out gained the Lions in total yards 319-190. Bastrop plays its next district game October 18th at Dripping Springs.
