In a tight battle in Lockhart, the Bastrop Bears defeated the Lockhart Lions 14-7. After a scoreless first quarter, the Bears scored after a 6 play 61 yard drive. The drive started with a 35 yard pass from Jacob Johnson to Dominique Moore. The touchdown came on a 25 yard run by Ricky Lincoln. The extra point by Kevin Klaus was good and the Bears led by 7-0. After the Bears defense held, the Bears started their next touchdown drive from their 42 yard line. The big play in the drive was a 48 yard pass from Johnson to Moore. Lincoln scored his second touchdown two plays later on a 5 yard run. Lockhart quickly came back and scored on a 22 yard touchdown pass. The drive was four plays for 58 yards. The half ended with the Bears leading 14-7. The third quarter was mainly controlled by the Lions, but they failed on a field goal attempt late in the third quarter. The Bears took control of most of the 4th quarter but failed to score. The game ended with the Bears on top 14-7. Moore caught five passes for 124 yards. Lincoln led rushers with 78 yards on 21 carries. Maurice Jones had 77 yards on 12 carries. The Bears led in first downs 15-13, in rushing 160-128, and passing 124-104. The Bears next meet Dripping Springs at Erhard Field at 7:30 next Friday.
