With 3:27 minutes to play New Braunfels scored on a 3 yard run to defeat the Bastrop Bears in a close 24-21 victory. The Unicorns scored first on a 5 yard pass to conclude a 58 yard drive in the first quarter.  After Bastrop fumbled, the Unicorns took over on the Bears 39. The Bears defense held and the quarter ended with the score 7-0. The Bears scored early in the 2nd quarter on a 1 yard run by Ricky Lincoln. The 55 yard drive tied the score at 7-7. After returning a punt to midfield, New Braunfels drove to the Bears 12 yard line. With no time left on the clock the Unicorns Trent Rusk kicked a 29 yard field goal giving them the lead 10-7 at halftime. Early in the 3rd quarter, Hernandez scored on a 30 yard run making the score 17-7. The Bears quickly scored on a 74 yard pass play from Jacob Johnson to Dominique Moore to bring the score to 17-14. The quarter ended with this score. With less than 8 minutes to play, Johnson connected with Moore for another touchdown on a 14 yard pass and a 21-17 lead for the Bears. The Unicorns then scored their final touchdown to win 24-21.New Braunfels led 15-10 in first downs, and passing yards 130-126. The Bears led in rushing 170-134. Ricky Lincoln rushed for 88 yards on 20 carries. Dominique Moore had 6 receptions for 120 yards.  The Bears will meet Del Valle at home next Friday, October 3 at 7:30 pm.
